Biometrics in schools - You can say NO

In England and Wales educational establishments MUST ask for consent in order to take and process any under 18 year old biometric data for any purpose - such as catering, registration, library use, computer login, access entry, payments, etc.

Schools MUST provide a reasonable alternative to biometrics and pupils not using their biometrics must not be discriminated against.

Consent ultimately lies with the pupil.

We are working on extending the rights of biometric consent to children in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
